At least 10 people were killed and 25 injured when a container truck collided with a long-haul bus causing flames on the latter in the central province of Binh Thuan on Monday, according to initial reports.
The accident took place at around 2 am in the province’s Ham Thuan Bac District, about 250 kilometers north of Ho Chi Minh City.

The crash happened when the container truck, which was traveling towards Ho Chi Minh City, hit another bus and then made a head-on collision with the other bus, which was traveling the opposite direction.

The long-haul bus burst into flames, killing 8 passengers instantly. Two others died at hospital.  

Another 25 people onboard were injured and rushed to the Binh Thuan General Hospital in Phan Thiet City. By 9:30 am, the hospital said six of them who were lightly injured had been discharged, and the 19 others were under treatment.

The fires at the site also destroyed the container truck but not the container, which locked National Highway 1A. Police and authorities cleared the container to ensure traffic.

Police and authorities also identified the dead and the injured.
