Hanoi Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung has assigned the Hanoi Planning - Architecture Department’s director to coordinate with related agencies to find appropriate locations for building luxury hotels (5-6 star standard) in 10 districts in the city, including Ba Dinh, Tay Ho, Hai Ba Trung, Dong Da, Hoang Mai, Thanh Xuan, Ha Dong, Nam Tu Liem, Bac Tu Liem and Dong Anh.

The Director of the Hanoi Department of Planning and Architecture has to complete the task and report to chairman Chung this month.

According to the third quarter report of the market research firm Savills Vietnam, Hanoi’s hotel source of supply decreased 5.2% on a quarterly basis, after the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) revoked the 3-star ranking of nine hotels in the capital city.

The report by Savills Vietnam also said that the average occupancy rate of Hanoi’s hotels reduced 2% quarterly due to the impact of the rainy season, but increased 4% year on year. The average room rates rose by 4% quarterly and 12% annually. Revenue per room increased by 20% compared to last year.

Regarding the future supply of hotel rooms, Savills Vietnam said that in 2017, a 4-star hotel with 200 rooms will come into operation in Hanoi.
