VietNamNet Bridge - A mass wedding for 100 couples was held in HCM City on October 15.
These are the couples with low incomes and those who work in industrial zones in HCM City and neighbouring provinces. The couples had marriage certificates, but for some reason were unable to hold a ceremony.
The couples were given a feast table, a pair of VND2 million (USD95) ATM card supplied by Vietcombank, wedding rings, outfits, wedding cake, flowers and free photo services.
A procession of cars made its way down the city's streets to the spot where HCM City officials gave out wedding rings to the couples. The organizers also organised an outdoor trip and a training course on how to build a happy family.
Last year, a similar mass wedding was held for 100 couples who had made exceptional labour achievements but were from disadvantaged backgrounds, had disabilities, were unemployed or had serious health issues.
