Pham Nhat Vuong tops the list of 100 Vietnamese richest stock millionaires in 2015

The total assets of the 100 stock millionaires as of December 31 had reached VND83.653 trillion or $3.7 billion, an increase of 2.6 percent compared with 2014, according to VnExpress.

The VN Index of the HCM City bourse increased by 34.5 points (6.3 percent) in 2015, while the HNX Index of the Hanoi Stock Exchange decreased by 2.78 points (3.3 percent).

The name of a businesswoman for the first time appears on the list of the three richest millionaires. She is Pham Thu Huong, deputy president of Vingroup (VIC) who holds stocks worth VND4.196 trillion, an increase of VND700 billion over her previous year’s assets.

Meanwhile, her husband, a well-known businessman, Pham Nhat Vuong, president of Vingroup, remained in the first position with VND24.332 trillion ($1.1 billion) worth of stock assets.

Another member of the Pham family, Pham Thuy Hang, who is also vice president of Vingroup, was among top five with VND2.8 trillion worth of stock assets.

President of Hoa Phat Group Tran Dinh Long lost VND777 billion in his assets in 2015 because of the sharp share price drop of 16 percent. However, Long is still in the second position with the assets worth VND5.380 trillion.

With the stock asset value decreasing by VND327 billion to VND1.560 trillion, Long’s wife Vu Thien Hien fell two grades on the list to the 10th position.

Doan Nguyen Duc, who was recognized as one of the most influential businessmen in Vietnam some years ago, had an unsuccessful year with the share price dropping dramatically by 53.2 percent.

The sharp share price fall caused Duc’s stock assets to fall by VND3.960 trillion to VND3.616 trillion.

Big changes occurred with the other positions on the list of 100 stock millionaires. President of Phat Dat Real Estate Group Nguyen Vat Dat jumped to the eighth position with assets worth VND1.641 trillion.

Dao Huu Huyen, president of Duc Giang Chemicals, jumped by 23 marks to the 19th position with VND750 billion worth of stock assets.

Meanwhile, Truong Gia Binh, president of FPT, Vietnam’s largest information technology group, jumped from 20th to 8th, and president of the Saigon Securities Incorporated was upgraded by one notch to 9th. 

Businessmen in the seafood sector seemed to have a difficult year: Truong Thi Le Khanh, chair of Vinh Hoan fell by one mark to the 13th position, while Duong Ngoc Minh fell from 15th to 18th.
