VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese policemen have arrested several groups of Chinese and Taiwanese for hi-tech frauds. On September 13, 11 Chinese and Taiwanese were arrested in HCM City for the same accusation.
At 8am, September 13, police officers burst into a four-storey house in Ward 12, Tan Binh district. They arrested 11 Chinese and Taiwanese citizens, seized seven laptops, 35 fixed phones, 16 computer modems, 8 walkie-talkies, many credit cards and other tools.
These Chinese and Taiwanese confessed that they entered Vietnam as tourists. They hired the above house as the base to conduct hi-tech fraud activities.
These people assumed themselves as Chinese policemen, prosecutors, etc. to call Chinese businessmen in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries to threaten them that their banking accounts were attacked.
They then asked victims to give their banking account numbers or transfer money to their accounts for safety.
Since mid 2010, Vietnamese police have detected six similar cases.
