Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Doan Van Viet has signed Decision No1894 on the plan on night-time tourism development models.
The plan aims for diverse, sustainable, high-quality products. It will help affirm Vietnam's national tourism brand and enhance the competitiveness of Vietnam as an ideal tourism destination, increase travelers’ spending, and extend travelers’ stay in Vietnam.
Under the plan, by 2025, 12 localities including Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thua Thien - Hue, Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, Hoi An (Quang Nam), Da Lat (Lam Dong), Can Tho, Phu Quoc (Kien Giang), HCM City and Ba Ria - Vung Tau will have at least one model of night-time tourism.
There will be specific night entertainment complexes in Hanoi, Da Nang and HCM City, and the average length of stay of tourists in localities where the plan is implemented will be extended by one night.
The specific night entertainment complex model will be expanded in large tourism centers by 2030, including Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thua Thien - Hue, Hoi An (Quang Nam), Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), Da Lat (Lam Dong), Can Tho, Phu Quoc (Kien Giang) and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
Vietnam will develop night tourism products in centers where a large number of tourists gather; and create a brand name for Vietnam's night tourism.
Five models have been put forward in the plan, including cultural and art performances; sport activities; healthcare and beauty services; shopping and night entertainment; night excursions and night-time food services.
Based on tourism products, the plan put forward solutions, with a focus on urban planning and management; service organization and management; human resources; investment and market orientation; and advertisement and information technology application.
Regarding the policies to implement the plan, localities will consider the current laws and the real conditions in their localities to propose adjustments related to the time of providing services. In principle, night-time services would be allowed to be provided until 6am the next day in Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thua Thien-Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Can Tho, HCM City, Phu Quoc and Ba Ria - Vung Tau.
There would be the mechanisms to attract investments to build large-scale general entertainment complexes of international stature.
