Noi Bai International Airport expects August 28 to be its busiest day of the holiday period, handling more than 125,000 passengers, up 8% from normal levels and 33% from the same period in 2025. The airport is also forecast to handle 743 takeoffs and landings, 10% above normal.

During the holiday period, Noi Bai’s slot coordination capacity will be increased from 42 to 44 takeoffs and landings per hour between 6 a.m. and 11:55 p.m., creating additional room for airlines to operate more flights to meet passenger demand.

The airport has increased staffing and is making maximum use of check-in counters, boarding gates and baggage carousels. It is also coordinating with police to manage vehicles and passenger flows in an effort to prevent congestion inside and around the terminals.

Biometric systems, self-service check-in kiosks and the Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) model will remain in operation to shorten processing times and improve operational efficiency.

Noi Bai has advised passengers to check in online whenever possible and use VNeID, self-service check-in kiosks or biometric kiosks. Travelers should also carefully check their documents and baggage before heading to the airport.

In particular, passengers are advised to arrive at least two hours before domestic departures and three hours before international flights, while following instructions from airport authorities to avoid congestion and the risk of missing their flights.

Hanoi offers free buses and metro rides for five days

From August 29 through September 2, residents and visitors in Hanoi will be able to travel free of charge on 128 subsidized bus routes and the city’s two metro services - the Cat Linh-Ha Dong line and the elevated section of the Nhon-Cau Giay line.

According to the Hanoi Public Transport Management and Operation Center, bus passengers will either receive free single-journey tickets or be able to use approved apps and e-wallets.

For Hanoi Metro services, passengers can collect tickets at station counters or use the Hanoi Metro app, Visa cards and supported e-wallets through the ticketing system.

The five-day fare exemption is intended to make it easier for residents and visitors to travel, sightsee and enjoy activities during the National Day holiday, while encouraging greater use of public transport and helping ease traffic congestion.
