VietNamNet Bridge - Six people were killed and five others injured in a tragic car accident in on May 11.
The first accident happened at 05.00am at section Km195 of National Highway 1A in the southern province of Long An, when a lorry carrying beverages en route from HCM City to Tien Giang crashed into a 15-seat bus going in the opposite direction.
Six passengers on the bus died at the scene and five others were admitted to the Cho Ray hospital in HCM City.
Both the truck and passenger bus were seriously damaged.
The second accident took place at 8:50am when a container truck of a HCM City-based transportation company which was heading from HCM City to Phan Thiet collided with a bus operated by the HCM City-based Trung Nga Company which was running in the opposite direction, in An Binh Hamlet, Song Phan Commune of Binh Thuan Province.
The collision killed six people on the spot and another victim died at the hospital. The ten injured people were rushed to Binh Thuan General Hospital for emergency aid.
Police said the two vehicles were traveling at high speed when they collided head on.
The 37-year-old driver of the container truck, Nguyen Van Quy, was being held in custody for further questioning during an investigation into the accident.
The police are investigating the cause of the accidents.
