They were invited to Vienna to compete in four groups of age: less than 12 years old, 13-15 years old, 16-20 years old and 21-30 years old.

Tra Mi’s group included 16 contestants from Russia, China, Japan and Vietnam. Tra Mi played three pieces of music: Sonta No. 10 (KV.330) by W. Mozart, Prelud – Fuga (BWV 889) by J. Bach and Etude La Campanella by F. Liszt. The eight-member jury gave Mi the second prize.

After this competition, Tra Mi participated in the Nuits Pianistiques Piano Contest, one of the main events at France’s Aix En Provence Music Festival on August 27. She performed four compositions, including the three above and F. Liszt: Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, and won the first prize.
