VietNamNet Bridge – Of the total 832 final candidates for the upcoming National Assembly (NA) election, there are 15 self-nominated people, including four each for Hanoi and HCM City.

There are 239 women, 110 non-Party members, 180 people with ages under 40, and 83 who are current NA deputies.
Notably, 15 out of 83 self-nominated candidates, including 12 men and 3 women, entered the final round, including four from Hanoi and HCM City each, 2 from the central province of Nghe An, and one each from the southern provinces of Bac Lieu and Dong Nai, the central province of Ha Tinh, and the northern province of Hung Yen.
Eleven of them are non-Party members. Most self-nominated candidates are businessmen, including young people.
In the previous election in 2007, there were 30 out of 238 independent candidates entering the shortlist round.
As scheduled, April 27 will be the deadline for announcing the official lists of candidates at each constituency. Candidates will have 18 days for electoral canvassing (May 3-20).
The NA election, scheduled for May 22, will select 500 NA deputies.
