To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the city officially bearing the name of President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976 - July 2, 2026), the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has approved a large-scale fireworks celebration plan.
The displays will take place simultaneously at 16 locations across the city, lasting 15 minutes from 9:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. on July 2. Notably, the fireworks sites are spread throughout the expanded city following administrative restructuring, ensuring that residents from the urban core to gateway districts can enjoy the spectacle.
Five locations will feature both high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks: the area at the entrance to the Saigon River Tunnel in An Khanh Ward; the New City Center in Binh Duong Ward; Tam Thang Square in Vung Tau Ward; the Cu Chi Tunnels historical site in An Nhon Tay Commune; and the Can Gio coastal tourism urban area.
Among them, the Saigon River Tunnel site will host the largest fireworks display, featuring 1,000 high-altitude shells, 200 low-altitude shells and 78 fireworks racks of various types, creating a dramatic show reflected across the river's surface.
Eleven low-altitude fireworks sites will be located at administrative centers, historical landmarks and newly developed urban areas, including the former Binh Chanh District Military Command compound in Tan Nhut Commune; Ben Noc Temple in Tang Nhon Phu Ward; the central administrative square of Tan My Ward; and the Public Service Center in Dat Do Commune.
Additional locations include the Pier 914 historical site in Con Dao Special Zone; the resettlement park in Ngai Giao Commune; the football field of the Cultural, Sports and Broadcasting Center in Dau Tieng Commune; the football field of the Cultural, Sports and Community Learning Center in Minh Thanh Commune;
The Vuon Cau residential project in Lai Thieu Ward; Saigon Marina IFC Tower at 2 Ton Duc Thang Street in Sai Gon Ward; and Hung Vuong Street in Van Hanh Quarter, Phu My Ward.
All costs associated with the event will be covered through sponsorships and private-sector contributions at selected locations, with no funding drawn from the state budget.
