VietNamNet Bridge – The Government identified the combined misuse of more than VND33.7 billion (US$1.6 million) by several State-owned economic groups, cities and provinces, ministries and related agencies last month, according to Deputy Chief Government Inspector Nguyen Van San.

Sixteen inspections were conducted by the Government Inspectorate and 193 out of a total 854 inspections by ministries, cities and provinces found evidence of misuse of funds.

San said inspectors had petitioned to reclaim nearly VND16.45 billion ($783,000) and impose fines on 13 organisations and 30 individuals. One case had been handed over to the investigative office.

Over VND10 billion ($476,000) had already been collected, he said.

Government inspectors, cities and provinces continued to speed up and improve the quality and efficiency of disseminating information about anti-corruption to officials, employees and people, San said.

The inspection sector will continue to evaluate the implementation of conclusions by inspectors this month according to instructions from the Prime Minister and chiefs of administrative offices. It is also preparing conditions to implement the Inspection Law which came into effect at the beginning of this month and plans to help cities and provinces handle unsettled cases.
