The funds will come from the city and central Government’s coffers and private sources in case of private-public partnership (PPP) projects.
The focus will be on wrapping up projects to ease traffic jams, especially near Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Cat Lai Port in District 2 and the downtown area.
The Management Centre of the Sai Gon River Tunnel last week began construction of three ramps, the first from Vo Van Kiet Boulevard up to Nguyen Tri Phuong Bridge in Binh Chanh District, the second going down from the bridge to the boulevard and the third connecting the first ramp with the bridge.
They will totally cost VND194 billion ($8.8 million).
City Party Committee Secretary Dinh La Thang and Deputy Secretary Tat Thanh Cang took part in the groundbreaking ceremony.
The work is expected to finish in late 2017 and help ease traffic flows, Le Van Khoa, deputy chairman of the city People’s Committee, said.
The three ramps will respectively be 122m, 149m, and 176m.
The centre will also build a 600m long, 6m wide road along the Tau Hu canal and a sewer system underneath it, install lights and plant trees.
