VietNamNet Bridge – Hanoi police on Wednesday detected 20 dried primates on a coach running between Hanoi and Cao Bang province that was was stopped for a traffic law violation.

The primates, which have yet to be identified and may be monkeys or langurs, were in a dried state and hidden in two sacks. As they gave out a strong smell, the police decided to search the coach, and then found them..

The driver, named Do Xuan Phuong, from Cao Bang, said that an unknown customer had hired him to transport the two sacks from Hanoi’s My Dinh Bus Station and deliver them to a buyer in Thai Nguyen Province.

The case is being investigated as some primates are on the list of endangered species and banned from hunting and trading in Vietnam, police said.
