These firms include: Galaxy Play, BHD, VAC Group Holding, HK Films, Thu Trang Entertainment Co., Ltd., Chanh Phuong Films, ABC Pictures Co., Ltd., CJ HK, Vietcom Films, Green Film, Southeast Asia Production Support Co., Ltd, Film Clinic Co., Ltd., Anh Teu Film Co., Ltd., 89s Group Joint Stock Company, Da Sac Film Co., Ltd., Mar6 studios Co., Ltd., DTT Trade and Media Investment JSC, Star VN Co., Ltd., MAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company (MCV), Sidus and Teu Entertainment JSC.
According to these firms, they have faced many difficulties, even the risk of bankruptcy since the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic. At present, their revenue is zero while they have to pay for space rental, equipment maintenance, staff salaries...
In the 4th outbreak of Covid-19 since late April 2021, the prolonged social distancing in Ho Chi Minh City has seriously affected the industry. The production and release plans for many movies and TV shows have been suspended or delayed indefinitely.
"It is important that in the near future, the source of domestic films and television programs will not be sufficient to meet the needs of the people, and willl lead to the risk that the Vietnamese film and television industry will depends on foreign sources of films and TV shows.
Many film and television program producers are currently in a state of exhaustion of resources, and it is difficult for them to recover in a short time, the document said.
They emphasized that they did not ask for financial support, but only asked for a mechanism to resume operation in the new normal context. To overcome difficulties, they proposed solutions and asked the Prime Minister’s approval for operation resumption from October 15, 2021.
