Up to 200 people living with HIV/ AIDS in Jayapura, Papua, died in 2010, 20 more than 2009, local media reported on Friday.
"Most of the victims died because it is too late for them to find they have had the disease and they received treatment in the fourth stage of the disease," National AIDS Commission Secretary Purnomo was quoted by kompas.com as saying.
Purnomo added that people living with HIV/AIDS still faced stigmatization, and because of this they often waited until it was too late to seek treatment.
