One of them is ‘Kiem ngan nui Nua’ ('Short Sword of Nua Mountain'), belonging to the Dong Son era.

Short sword

According to museum director Trinh Dinh Duong, the sword dates back to Dong Son culture, about 2,000 years ago.

The sword consists of blade and the hilt. The blade is bamboo leaf-shaped, thin, with two sharp edges. The hilt is a block molded into the blade.

A woman gathers her hair into a bun, wears jewelry and discreet dress that are elaborately woven and decorated with geometric patterns of short parallel lines, which are typical characteristics of the Dong Son culture.

Nua Mountain Short Sword bears special value as it shows the nation’s history in the 3rd century AD. The sword was found at the foot of Nua Mountain in Tan Ninh commune, Trieu Son district, Thanh Hoa province, the base for Ba Trieu's uprising against the Ngo army in 248.

Researchers believe the Nua Mountain Short Sword is the most beautiful among the short swords with engraved human statues in the Dong Son era.

Cam Giang bronze drum

The Cam Giang bronze drum is listed as H1-class treasure, according to Heger's classification, belonging to Group C1, dated to the Dong Son Culture, about 2,000 years ago.

The Cam Giang bronze drum was discovered at Bui Duc Tau's house in Phu Lai village, Cam Giang commune, Cam Thuy district, Thanh Hoa province in 1992.

The drum has a beautiful, balanced shape. In the middle of the drum is a 16-pointed star with rich, vivid decorative patterns typical of Dong Son Culture, such as stylized flying birds and people dressed in feathers.

There are four duck statues on the edge of the drumhead rotating in a counter-clockwise direction (one is lost, one is broken).

Cam Giang bronze drum enriches the collection of Dong Son bronze drums in Vietnam; reflects the high level of bronze casting techniques in the Dong Son culture period; and affirms the intelligence, talent, and creativity of ancient artisans, creating a vivid picture of the history, culture, and society of Vietnamese residents during the era of Hung Kings.

Cam Thuy bronze cauldron

The Cam Thuy bronze cauldron was found by the Military Command of Thanh Hoa City in the Dinh Huong intersection area in early 1980s and then handed over to the provincial museum on August 1, 2002. This is one of three national treasures on display at Thanh Hoa Museum.

Analysts believe the one in Thanh Hoa is the largest, which shows the perfection of the bronze casting technique.
