VietNamNet Bridge – The 2015 Vietnamese movie season closed with the victory of "I’m Your Grandmother", as a promising end. More than 40 films were produced, and nearly 30 films went to the local cinemas in 2015 as signaling the "boom" of Vietnamese movies in 2016.

In 2015, for the first Vietnamese films were no longer categorized in season. About two to five new films were released each month. The hottest movies of the year are “I See Yellow Flowers on Green Grass" with revenue of more than VND80 billion ($4 million) and “I’m Your Grandmother”.
The Lunar New Year 2016 (Tet) will welcome a series of five comedy movies, including “Loc Phat”, an action comedy by Le Bao Trung, “Super Theft”, another action comedy by Ham Tran, “Tia Tui La Cao Thu” by Hoai Linh-Viet Huong, “Yeu la phai xai chieu” by Khuong Ngoc and Gai Gia Lam Chieu by Bao Nhan and Nam Cito.
After the Tet film season, many comedy and drama movies will be released, such as “Tinh Xuyen Bien Gioi” (Cross-border Love), “Valentine”, “Diep Vu Chan Dai” (Long-legged Agent), “Diep Vu 3 L” (3L Agent), “Ve Si, tieu tho va thang kho” (Bodyguard, young lady and the dumb), “Ma Lai” (Ghost), “Vong Eo 56” (56cm Waist), “Vua Tan Gai” (Flirting King), and “Lien minh huyen thoai” (Legendary Alliance).
"Blockbusters" of Vietnam in 2016
After the spectacular victory of "I See Yellow Flowers on Green Grass" in 2015, Victor Vu will launch “Status”, a movie on cyber-crime in May 2016.
Producer and director Ngo Thanh Van will release her "blockbuster" entitled "Tam Cam: The Untold Story" on April 30, 2016.
At the same time, another "blockbuster" project of Truong Ngoc Anh and Cuong Ngo named “Truy Sat” (Chase to Kill) about the war between the police and transnational criminals will be launched.
The next film will be “Bao gio co yeu nhau” by Dustin Nguyen, based on the fairy tale "The Legend of Betel and Areca."
Director Ly Hai will introduce “Lat Mat 2”, after the victory of “Lat Mat 1” in 2015.
Phan Dang Di’s "Father, son and ..." which was introduced at many international film festivals in 2015 will be released in Vietnam this summer.
All of these movies are produced by private studios.
There is no information about state-financed films that will be released this year.
In 2016, many new cinemas will open in Vietnam.
