Though the Vietnamese team only needed a draw to advance, they controlled the game from the early minutes. The Uzbekistan’s net shook in the ninth minute after a decisive dribble and shot by striker Ngan Thi Thanh Hieu.
In the 72nd minute, from a counter-attack situation, Vietnam increased the lead to 2-0 thanks to a goal from Hoai Trinh. In the final minutes, a goal from captain and defender Nguyen Thi Thuong secured a 3-0 victory for the team.
With six points from two consecutive wins against Palestine and Uzbekistan, Vietnam secured a place in the next round of the competition in Group C. Head coach Akira Ijiri and his team will wait for the top seven teams in the remaining groups to compete for the last four slots to the 2024 AFC U17 Women's Asia Cup finals to be held in Indonesia./.
