The 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open, organized by Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security in collaboration with the World Police Taekwondo Federation and the Quang Ninh provincial government, will take place from December 6 to 9 in Quang Ninh.
The tournament was announced during a press conference held on November 29 by the Ministry of Public Security’s Department of Party and Political Work. It will feature two main events:
Asian Police Taekwondo Open: Competitions in sparring, forms (poomsae), breaking, and team events for male and female participants across various age groups and weight classes.
Asian Police Taekwondo Festival: A broader celebration including sparring, forms, freestyle forms, breaking, taekwondo aerobics, and full-team events.
More than 2,000 individuals, including officials, coaches, and athletes from 21 countries and territories, are expected to attend. Vietnam’s Public Security Taekwondo Team will field a delegation of 78 members, consisting of one head coach, seven assistant coaches, and 70 athletes.
The opening ceremony on December 6 promises a vibrant and dynamic showcase, setting the tone for an exciting series of competitions. Athletes from over 20 countries and territories will vie for honors in an atmosphere of camaraderie and spirited competition.
