On August 15, a boy from Tan Truong commune, Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province was hospitalized with pain in the lower abdomen, blood in the urine. Family members said earlier, the boy took a bath in a river near his house.

Through the ultrasound and CT scans, doctors discovered hematoma in the boy’s bladder. This blood clot changed size and grew gradually.

Determining that this might be a strange thing, doctors conducted surgery and picked up a 20 cm long leech living in the bladder.

Doctors said the leech entered into the bladder through the urethra. I was small but after entering the bladder, it sucked blood and grew.

On August 18, the boy was recovering. Doctors said he may be discharged in 1 or 2 days.
