VietNamNet Bridge – The organizing board of the Vietnam Golden Ball Awards 2010 on February 22 made public the list of 13 male and 11 female players nominated for the awards.

The list was fixed based on the selection and nomination of 17 news agencies in Vietnam. More than 100 sports journalists, coaches, and experts will cast their votes for their favorite male and female footballers. The outcome will be announced in mid-March. The award ceremony will be organized in late March.
All 13 male players are members of the national team.
V-League two-time champions Becamex Binh Duong dominate the list with three players – Nguyen Anh Duc, midfielder Nguyen Vu Phong and left wing Huynh Quang Thanh. Dong Tam Long An follows with two key players Phan Van Tai Em and Nguyen Minh Phuong.
Thanh Luong, the winner of the Golden Ball Award 2009, and Minh Phuong, the national squad’s captain are considered the brightest candidates.
On the women's list, six Ha Noi players who helped the national team win the Southeast Asian Games in Laos for the fourth time, are included.
The winner of the Golden Ball Award 2009 Kim Chi is not listed.
Ha Minh Tuan of Da Nang and Nguyen Van Quyet of Viettel are promising candidates for the best young players of the year.
Argentinean goal poacher Gaston Merlo, the best striker in the national football V-League championship twice in a row, will face stronger competition from Brazilian Leandro De Oliveira of Binh Duong, Antonio Carlos of Dong Tam Long An, South African Kubheka Philam from Binh Duong and Nigerian Samson Kayode from Dong Thap for the Best Foreign Player title.
Merlo, who helped Da Nang win the V-League title in 2009, won Best Foreign Player in the vote last year.
Striker Le Cong Vinh from Ha Noi T&T and former national forward Le Huynh Duc, who now coaches Da Nang, both won the Golden Ball three times in a row.
The list of nominees for men’s awards: Viet Cuong (Hoang Anh Gia Lai), Anh Duc, Vu Phong, Quang Thanh (Binh Duong), Tai Em, Minh Phuong (Dong Tam Long An), Tan Tai, Quang Hai (Khanh Hoa), Trong Hoang (Song Lam Nghe An), Thanh Luong (Hanoi ACB), Tan Truong (Dong Thap), Phuoc Tu (Thanh Hoa), Nhu Thanh (Ninh Binh).
The list of nominees for women’s titles: Kieu Trinh, Kim Hong (HCM City), Ngoc Anh, Nguyen Thi Hoa, Nguyen Thi Muon, Minh Nguyet, Kim Tien, Nguyen Thi Nga (Hanoi), Thuy Linh, Le Thi Thuong (Vietnam Coal and Mineral Group), Hai Hoa (Thai Nguyen).
The nominees for outstanding young player: Nguyen Van Quyet (Viettel), Minh Tuan (Da Nang), Thanh Trung (Hoa Phat), Hai Huy (Quang Ninh), Hoang Thinh (Song Lam Nghe An).
