Firemen in Ha Noi rescued 25 people from a fire broke out in a
35-storey Linh Dam residential quarter in Ha Noi's Hoang Mai District at
around 10am today.
The rescuees included a cardiovascular
patient living on the 22nd floor, and two children, while leading 43
other residents out of the smoke-filled building.
Four fire engines and more than 80 firemen were sent to the scene.
The fire was extinguished at 12.30pm, said officials.
Lieutenant-colonel
Tran Doan Nguyen, head of the Thanh Xuan District Fire Prevention and
Control Police Team, said the fire began in a technical box on the 17th
floor, followed by smoke spreading to the upper floors.
