From 7.30am of December 10, photographers and volunteers grouped at the Hoa Binh primary school, next to the Great Church. They were divided into 11 groups to shoot photos of people at orphanages, charity centers, parks… as gifts.
They took mirrors, combs and cosmetics with them to make up for their characters. Some groups also brought Christmas gifts to disadvantaged children at charity centers.
Called “Help portrait”, the event was sponsored by the Japanese multinational camera maker Canon. In 2010, the event was organized in Vietnam for the first time and gathered 70 photographers, said Nguyen Thanh Hai, who initiated “Help portrait” in Vietnam.
Formed by renowned American celebrity photographer Jeremy Cowart in 2009, “Help-Portrait” is a non-profit event gathering volunteer photographers across the world to use their photography skills to give back to their local community.
The event has so far attracted 10,574 photographers at 1,062 locations in 54 countries and given away 101,596 portraits.
