The traditional German festival will return to Vietnam in late September, with special treats to celebrate the 25th milestone.
The press conference announcing the 25th Oktoberfest Vietnam
The German Businesses Association and the Delegate of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (GIC/AHK Vietnam) announced today that the 25th Oktoberfest Vietnam would be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, under the patronage of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Hanoi.
This year, celebrations will be first held at Hotel Nikko Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) from September 21-23. The event will start at 6 PM and last until midnight.
Hanoi-based participants can celebrate Oktoberfest from October 5-7 at the JW Marriott Hotel Hanoi. The famous Vietnamese actress Lan Phuong will be a special guest at the event.
The first Oktoberfest Vietnam was held in 1992 and immediately earned a special place in Vietnam’s social calendar.
Throughout the last 25 years, the event has created an authentic Bavarian party in Vietnam, resembling the atmosphere in the original Oktoberfest in Munich.
Besides premium German beer, guests can enjoy traditional German cuisine and music from Munich-based Anton Showband.
“Oktoberfest is a get-together of the German, Vietnamese, and international business communities for a cheerful and relaxing time,” said Marko Walde, chairman of the German Business Association and chief representative of GIC/AHK Vietnam.
Mark Van Der Wielen, general manager at JW Marriott Hotel, revealed that the hotel has been hosting Oktoberfest Vietnam for four consecutive years now.
This year, JW Marriott will continue to serve a variety of Bavarian specialties typically associated with Oktoberfest, including German beer, sausages, and pretzels, along with fun games and prize draws to celebrate the 25th anniversary.
