PM Nguyen Tan Dung on April 27 attended the 26th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

With the theme “Our People, Our Community, Our Vision”, leaders from the 10 ASEAN member states will discuss measures to accelerate the establishment of an ASEAN Community, ASEAN's post 2015 vision, improvement of the association’s missions and diplomatic relations, the central role of ASEAN, challenges facing the bloc, and exchanges on international and regional situations.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Malaysian PM Najib Tun Abdul Razak asserted that 2015 will be a milestone in the history of ASEAN, noting that the vision of creating a community will be a foundation for nations in the association to strengthen relations and cooperation in the next 10 years.

The PM also highlighted that all nations need to respect international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 and the basis of the rules of engagement and activities in the East Sea .

He also expressed hope that progress will be made in efforts to conclude the Code of Conduct.

PM Nguyen Tan Dung has joined other ASEAN leaders for a plenary session and will hold meetings with the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and ASEAN Business Advisory Council.
