Local authorities have identified 29 illegal gold mines in this area. By March 17, nearly 20 mines were destroyed. The remaining mines will be destroyed in the coming days.
Mr. Nguyen Ha Nam, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Vang district, said that, after illegal gold mines collapse, the district will keep an eye on these sites to prevent the return of illegal gold miners.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Binh Nam, from the Da Nang City Military Command, said the plan to demolish illegal gold mines in Da Nang had been approved by the Ministry of Defense. The 15-day campaign to destroy the mines was launched on March 11, with the participation of more than 100 people.
