VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Muay Federation opens the 2013 season by sending its best players to the World Muay Championship that will open on March 12, in preparation for the 27th SEA Games.

 

 

The World Muay Championship in Thailand will take place from March 12 to 22. The Vietnamese delegation will attend with 35 boxers. This tournament will bring together the leading boxers in the world so it will be the occasion for Vietnamese boxers to prepare for the 27th SEA Games in Myanmar later this year.

At this year's World Championships, the boxers will be divided into different competitions for young players, semi-professional players and the championships. In the young competition, Vietnam has many bright faces such as Nguyen Doan Long, Nguyen Huy Tuan, Nguyen Tang Quyen and, Luu Xuan Duc.

In the championships, the two-time world champion Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat (60kg) will be absent because of injury and he will be replaced by his younger brother Nguyen Tran Tu Do. Other hopes of the Vietnamese team consist of Bui Yen Ly (Hanoi), Tran Thi Huong (Ministry of Public Security), and some boxers from HCM City like Vo Van Dai, Truong Quoc Hung, Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc and Phan Thi Ngoc Linh.

After the tournament, Vietnamese boxers will continue to participate in the Pro-Am (semi-professional). At this tournament, Phan Thi Ngoc Linh is the only hope of Vietnam, who is expected to successfully defend her championship.

This year, the Vietnamese Muay team will compete at many international tournaments, including the SEA Games in Myanmar, the 4th Asia Indoor Sports and Martial Art Games in South Korea and the Asian Championship.
