VietNamNet Bridge - On the occasion of the National Day (September 2), the Hanoi authorities on August 30 announced the decision to release or reduce the sentences of 352 prisoners.

These prisoners had undergone good re-education at three prisons in Hanoi, police said. Among them, 116 prisoners will be released ahead of schedule.
Specifically, the Prison No. 1 will have 216 prisoners, the Prison No. 2 with 89 prisoners and the Prison No. 3 with 47 prisoners being granted amnesty.
Major-general Tran Thuy, deputy director of the Hanoi Police Agency, affirmed that the amnesty showed the Party and State clemency policies for prisoners who had remorse and conducted their re-education process seriously.
He added that the amnesty also aimed to encourage prisoners to not re-commit crimes and promptly integrate with the community.
