In Ho Chi Minh City, titillation for teenagers now comes in 3-D form. Pornographic pictures and films, reportedly smuggled in from China, are widely available and popular especially among university students.

When they first appeared last May, 3D photos of landscapes were the most common and quickly became a hit.

Pornographic pictures are a recent entrant and usually sold by hawkers carrying newspapers and pictures near 23-9 Park, Le Van Tam Park, the bus station near Ben Thanh Market and even schools.

When men appear uninterested in normal 3D pictures, the hawkers whip out the “hot” ones.

They are a reproduction of normal photos of nudes.

But since nude photos are available freely on the internet, the 3D pictures only cost VND15,000 (75 cents).

The 3-D films are sold online at VND50,000-70,000 (US$2.5-3.5) along with glasses that are delivered free even to distant districts like Thu Duc.

“We often shut the dorm door and watch together,” said Nguyen Hoang H., a student at the HCMC University of Polytechnics.

“We are mostly curious to see how it’s like in 3D.”
