The Israeli diplomat who was seriously injured in a terrorist attack here Monday was identified as Tai Yehosh, who worked at the defense wing of the Israeli embassy in the Indian capital, said local TV Times Now.

The 42-year-old diplomat, whose car was tailed by a motorcycle when the blast took place, was seen flung from the car to the other side of the road, miraculously surviving the attack although the car was badly damaged.

At least three others were injured in the blast, said police.

The blast occurred at the high-security zone of Race Course near Indian Prime Minister's Office in central Delhi.

U.S. terror suspect David Headley has reportedly surveyed the area, said local media. Headley, a former Pakistan national, is now in U.S. police custody.

All major Western embassies here have been put on alert after the blast, said local media reports. Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram has been briefed on the incident and he was told that the attack was not the work of local people. The injured has been shifted to an undisclosed private hospital after being sent to the RML government hospital first.

Security personnel have told media that the fuel tank of the car remained intact, so it is apparent that the explosion was not caused by fire.

A bomb plot was also planned against Israeli embassy in Georgian capital Tbilisi, but the bomb was defused, according to media reports.

Israeli Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman has reacted strongly to the attacks, saying Israel knows who the attackers were and won 't let them get away.
