Min became famous after climbing to the tops of five mountains in Vietnam, including the two highest. He is planning to climb Sa mu and Ta Chi Nhu, which are among the highest and most attractive to Vietnamese climbers.

Quynh Giang, 33, in Hanoi, said Min gained initial achievements as a mountain climber when he was just 2.5 years old.

Min became a mountain climber when trying to conquer Con Son Mount, 200 meters tall, in Chi Linh district in Hai Duong province. However, his first official achievement in trekking was gained in November 2023 when Min was four. The boy and his parents climbed Lao Than, 2,680 meters above sea water level, in Bat Xat district of Lao Cai.

When Giang and her husband planned to climb the mountain, she did not think that she would bring the boy with her. However, when hearing his parents discussing how to prepare for mountaineering, Min felt curious and said he wanted to do it with his parents.

“Min might have thought that climbing up a mountain was just like climbing hills and mountains in mother’s hometown,” Giang recalled. “I decided that Min would have to stay at home. We would have to climb the mountain for two days and live with no electricity and water."

The mother tried to persuade the boy not to go with the parents, because this was difficult and challenging. However, Min insisted joining the team, saying that he would sleep in huts and promise that he would not be a ‘wheedler’.

When Giang showed photos of some small children who had to be carried on adults’ backs during trekking, the boy said that he would go on his feet and would not need any support from parents.

Min felt excited from the moment he prepared for the trip to the time he climbed the mountain.

“Min enjoyed the landscapes, flowers and trees, and the fresh air when he was climbing,” Giang recalled.

Min faced some troubles during the journey when he had a sore stomach and when it rained heavily It was cold, dark and rainy, while the road was slippery and steep. But Min and the guide still led the way. He even managed to climb up a slope himself.

Min still felt energetic when the trek ended. He enjoyed the journey because he could practice with his parents, enjoy the scenery, and make friends.
