Luong Minh Phuc, Director of HCM City Transportation Construction Investment Project Management Board, said the agency is taking responsibility deploying five key transport projects, including Belt Road No 3 of HCM City; An Phu intersection; upgrading and expanding of National Highway No 50; Nguyen Van Linh – Nguyen Huu Tho underground tunnel; and Tran Quoc Hoan – Cong Hoa route.

It is expected that the Nguyen Van Linh – Nguyen Huu Tho underground tunnel will be completed this year. Two construction and installation packages will be deployed and the HC2 tunnel will be open for traffic on June 30, 2024. Meanwhile, the HC1 tunnel branch is scheduled to be completed and be open for traffic on December 31, 2024.

As for the project on building the road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan – Cong Hoa and Binh Tan, five construction and installation packages will be implemented at the same time. XL9 (the tunnel at the beginning of the route and Thang Long Road area) package is expected to be finished on July 30, 2024, while the entire work capitalized at VND4.8 trillion will be completed by the end of this year.

The management board has also set the goal of speeding up project execution to complete construction of the highway, a part of the Belt Road No 3 HCM City project by the end of 2025. The entire project is expected to finish one year later.

The project on building and expanding Highway No 50 will be implemented with seven construction and installation packages. The road section with 4.3 kilometers in length from Song Hanh to Highway No 50 would be completed by the end of 2024 before full completion of the project by the end of 2025.

Regarding the An Phu intersection project, the agency plans to deploy 10 construction and installation packages. The building of the HC1-01, HC1-02 underpasses, Ba Dat Bridge, and Giong Ong To Bridge, and the component projects will finish by December 31, 2024. The entire project will finish by the end of April 2025.

In addition to these five transport projects, the management board will have to implement a large workload, including site clearance for implementation of other projects and the execution of 38 other projects.

These include Nam Ly Bridge which will replace Rach Chiec damn in Thu Duc City, Rach Dia and Phuoc Long Bridges to connect district 7 with Nha Be district.

HCM City also plans to build Ba Hom Bridge and upgrade Ten Lua Road (from Road No2 9 to Provincial Road No 10.
