Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee, Nguyen Duc Chung announced late Friday morning that the stewardess worked on a London-Hanoi flight which landed at Noi Bai Airport at 5am on March 9.

According to the city's leader, the woman started to cough and had fever on March 10 and went for a health check at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases on March 11. Her samples showed positive for the virus on March 12.

This is the sixth Covid-19 case in Hanoi and the 44th case in the country as of Friday morning.

The chairman asked agencies to monitor all passengers on that flight.

Deputy director of Hanoi Police Department, Doan Ngoc Hung, said that they have had information relating to 94 foreign people out of 187 passengers on that flight and most of them were staying in Hoan Kiem District.

In latest news, a man in HCM City has been confirmed as the 46th case of infection in Vietnam. This man, 25 years old, met with the 34th patient before.

The 47th patient is a 43-year-old woman who worked as home helper of the 17th patient on Truc Bach street in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh district.

Right after her hostess was confirmed to be infected with the virus on March 5, she was brought to the National Hospital of Tropical Disease No. 2 for quarantine and sample test.

Both patients are now in stable health conditions, said the Ministry of Health.

Among the confirmed patients in the country, 16 had been successfully treated and discharged from hospitals.

COVID-19 cases in Binh Thuan remain in stable health condition

A total of nine patients who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the south-central province of Binh Thuan remain in stable health condition with just a single case suffering from a serious cough, according to Binh Thuan General Hospital.

At present, each patient is actively receiving treatment from medical workers along with the support of doctors from Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City.

Nguyen Van Thanh, Director of Binh Thuan General Hospital, said the health of all nine positive COVID-19 cases remains stable with none of the patients requiring a ventilator and just one case still displaying signs of a cough along with a mild sore throat.

Among the group is a two-year-old baby who is the grandchild of the nation’s 34th COVID-19 patient with the baby’s current health remaining normal with no indications of a cough or a fever.

Each case is now in isolation following regulations set by the Ministry of Health in a bid to avoid the further spread of the COVID-19 to the wider community, while the provincial health sector is thoroughly preparing for a range of scenarios in order to be ready to respond to any complicated developments caused by the epidemic.

Thanh added that the hospital has been following treatment procedures under the guidance from the Ministry of Health along with direct instructions from doctors of Cho Ray Hospital.
