More than 5,000 workers from Viet Glory Company Limited in Nghe An Province go on strike on October 3.

On the third day of the strike on Wednesday morning, authorities of Nghe An Province came to work with leaders of the Viet Glory Company Limited and representatives of the workers about the issue.

According to the workers, their basic salary, rewards and allowance were too low while they are given heavy piecework, which should be revised.

They also asked for an improvement in the attitude of managers on staff members, regulations on the working time calculation, and payment of allowances and rewards.

The company said that they couldn't raise basic salary due to financial difficulties they're facing and they hope that workers would share with the company to overcome this difficult time.

Meanwhile, they agreed to raise the rewards for those who have extra pieceworks. The company said they would also consider raising allowances for workers.

Speaking at the meeting, vice-chairman of Nghe An Province’s Labour Confederation, Nguyen Chi Cong, requested the company to ensure proper rights for the workers. He also urged the workers to return to work as soon as possible to stabilise their lives and maintain the company's operations.

Viet Glory Company Limited is a foreign-invested enterprise, specialising in sports shoe manufacturing, with a total of 6,000 employees.
