VietNamNet Bridge – At 4pm on April 20, while doing some site clearance for a water supply project in Ky Anh district in the central province of Ha Tinh, sappers of the Engineer Brigade 414 unveiled a bomb of more than 500kg.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Van Thai from the Engineer Brigade 414 says that the bomb is 1.5m long, 0.5m in diameter and over 500kg in weight. It was around two meters under the ground when sappers found it.

After the bomb was detected, sappers blocked the site and dug it up. After nearly three hours, the bomb was brought to a specialized truck and transported to the Engineer Brigade 414’s ground for disposal.

Major Trinh Xuan Trung from the Engineer Brigade 414 says that the bomb is left from the Vietnam War because it was detected on Road 22, one of the major roads to the southern battlefield during the war.

Chung says that his brigade has discovered and defused many bombs and mortar shells of all kinds.

In the last two weeks, several bombs have been founded in different provinces in Vietnam.
