VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) will hold a ceremony honoring 57 students who won international and regional Olympiad medals and the most excellent students in 2013.

At the ceremony, one student will receive the 3rd class Labor Medal and seven others will receive the certificates of merit from Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

Talking to the press on Wednesday, 25/9, Deputy Minister of Education and Training – Mr. Tran Quang Quy - said this year Vietnam reaped many successes in the international arena. Twenty-three students from five national team all won medals, including 6 gold, 9 silver and 8 bronze medals at regional and international Olympiad competitions.

In particular, Vietnam’s math team ranked seventh out of 97 participating countries at the international math contest, up two spots from last year. This is the best result that Vietnam has won so far.

Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang will present the 3rd class Labor Medal for student Ngo Phi Long, who won four gold medals and one bronze medal in the International Olympiads 2012 and 2013.

Seven students who won gold medals in Asian Mathematics, Physics and Informatics Olympiads will be conferred with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s certificates of merit.

Each student will be also awarded by the Ministry of Education and Training, specifically VND15 million ($700) for the gold medal, VND10 million for the silver medal and VND7 million for the bronze medal.

The corresponding rewards for the regional medals are VND10 million, VND7 million and VND3 million. The students who won certificates of merit at Asian contests and the first winners at domestic contests will receive VND1 million and VND1.15 million each, respectively.

The teachers of these students will receive the certificate of merit of the Ministry of Education and Training.

The ceremony will be held on October 2 in Hanoi.
