Vietnam International Digital Week 2024, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Quang Ninh Province, will run from November 19-22 in Ha Long City. This event provides a platform for entities and businesses to engage with regulators, associations, and enterprises - both domestic and international—on the development of information technology, digital transformation, and digital infrastructure.
The program will serve as a venue to exchange expertise on strategic policy development, technology, human resources, and partnerships to address current challenges.
Ministerial roundtable: Scheduled for November 18, this roundtable will focus on strategies and visions for the future of digital technologies, emphasizing the role of virtual assistants (TLA) in fostering economic growth and improving national governance for sustainable development. The event will feature MIC Minister Nguyen Manh Hung, other ministers, international organizations, and corporate representatives.
ASEAN 5G conference: The fifth ASEAN 5G Conference will explore topics such as Open RAN deployment, regulatory frameworks for 5G, and progress reports on 5G rollout in ASEAN countries.
AI Governance and Applications Forum: Delegates will share global experiences in governing and implementing AI technologies in industries, paving the way for AI adoption within ASEAN.
ASEAN Information Officers’ Meeting (SOMRI): On November 20, the ASEAN SOMRI meeting will focus on enhancing the quality, accessibility, and reliability of e-government services to boost digital transactions.
Unlicensed Technology Workshop: Discussions will revolve around technologies like WiFi 6 and other unlicensed spectrum technologies that support digital economies and national digital transformation.
International Digital Investment Forum: This forum aims to attract investments into Vietnam's provinces, cities, and industrial parks, connecting Vietnamese businesses with international partners.
Submarine Cable Connectivity Forum: Set for November 20, this forum will discuss Vietnam’s submarine cable connectivity strategies through 2030, vital for enhancing the country's digital infrastructure.
Human Resources Development Conference: Co-hosted by MIC and the OECD, this session will focus on developing digital workforce skills to support economic and digital transformation goals.
Vietnam–Korea Digital Transformation Forum: On November 21, this forum will address policies to advance high-skilled digital workforce training, promote digital literacy, and establish digital universities.
Vietnam–ITU AI Governance Conference: The MIC, in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), will host a Southeast Asian conference on AI governance, discussing institutional frameworks and AI applications in industrial sectors.
Southeast Asia Hackathon: From November 19-22, the Southeast Asia Hackathon will feature teams from ASEAN countries competing in Vietnam. This event is co-organized by MIC and South Korea’s Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA).
The inaugural Vietnam International Digital Week in December 2023 centered on narrow AI applications, setting the foundation for this year’s broader agenda.
