According to the Vietnam Military Medical University, eight volunteers were given a dose of 50mcg per person on December 30 after three others showed normal health 72 hours after receiving the same shot.
The last nine volunteers will get the shots if the health of these eight people remains normal in the next 72 hours.
So far 31 volunteers have been given Nanocovax,Vietnam's first Covid-19 vaccine, during the human trials, the university said.
"60-70% of them had mild side effects including slight fever and pains at the injection area. They then all got over the reactions in a couple of hours without any treatment."
The university said that these were normal side effects after getting the vaccine and they would all end after 24 hours.
According to their plan, the highest dose of 75μg will be given to volunteers next week after being approved by the Ministry of Health.
Vietnam started the human trial of Covid-19 vaccine, the Nanocovax, on December 17 and the trial will pass through three phases.
The first phase of the trial aims to assess the vaccine's safety and assess the immunogenicity response of the different doses.
The second phase will be carried out on 400-600 people aged from 12 to 75 across the country.
The last stage will be carried out on 10,000-30,000 people. If there is no outbreak in Vietnam during this time, the last stage may be carried out in countries with severe outbreaks like Indonesia and Bangladesh. Dtinews
