An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale jolted Negros - Cebu region, Philippines at 03:49:18 GMT on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 33.00 km, was initially determined to be at 10.0310 degrees north latitude and 123.1750 degrees east longitude.
