On October 5, at approximately 5pm, a forest fire erupted near the Gao Temple, moving towards the Tran Hung Dao monument at An Phu Mountain in Kinh Mon town, Hai Duong province.

The fire posed immediate threats to the nearby Cao An Phu shrine, a special national relic venerating An Sinh Vuong Tran Lieu, the father of Saint Tran Hung Dao.

The Hai Duong fire brigade, supported by emergency personnel and specialized vehicles, was promptly deployed to the scene. Efforts to control the fire involved creating firebreaks, encircling, and isolating the flames to prevent further spread.

The firefighting operations faced additional complications due to the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi, which had downed numerous trees and coincided with dry weather conditions.

Nonetheless, the dedicated efforts of the emergency crews, which lasted about 15 hours, successfully extinguished the fire by 8am today (October 6).

The burned area was preliminarily estimated to be between 5 to 6 hectares. Following the containment of the fire, a permanent team was stationed at the site to monitor any residual hotspots and prevent reignition.

Currently, the cause of the fire is under investigation by the authorities to determine the specifics and prevent future incidents.
