Nine local films have been selected to represent Vietnam at two prominent forthcoming international film festivals, according to an announcement by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST).
The films will first screen at the Fukuoka International Film Festival (September 15-25) in Japan and subsequently at the 60th BFI London Film Festival (October 5-16), said the MOCST.
Most well-known among the nine films is the multi-award winning film Yellow Flowers on Green Grass, directed by Victor Vu, which tells of the relationship between two young brothers set in 1980s Vietnam.
The other eight films are: Quyen (director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh; Scandal (director Victor Vu); Long Legged Girls (Director Vu Ngoc Dang); Adrift (director Bui Thac Chuyen); Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere (director Nguyen Hoang Diep); Le Ba Dang from Bich La to Paris (Director Dang Nhat Minh); Gentle (director Le van Kiet); and Lost Dragon (director Cuong Ngo).
