VietNamNet Bridge – Besides the newly-formed tropical storm Tembin, another storm called Bolaven has just appeared in the Pacific Ocean.

Both storms are very powerful and they are moving northeast toward the East Sea.

On August 20, tropical storm Tembin was upgraded to a typhoon and is likely to turn northwest toward Taiwan and Hong Kong. It was packing winds of 144kph, with gusts reaching 180kph.

Meanwhile, a tropical depression that formed near Guam has been upgraded into tropical storm Bolaven.

As of 2pm of August 20, Bolaven, the 15th storm of the Pacific typhoon season, was centered 2,200km southeast of Taiwan, near Guam. It was moving at a speed of 9kph, packing winds of 65kph, with gusts of up to 90kph and a radius of 100km.

Bolaven is the Laotian word for plateau or mesa, while Tembin is Japanese for the constellation Libra.
