General Secretary To Lam presents the Labor Hero title to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh. 

At the 80th anniversary celebration of Vietnam’s diplomatic service held this morning (August 25), General Secretary To Lam awarded the title of Labor Hero to former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh and presented the First-Class Labor Order to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the ceremony, the organizing committee announced Decision No. 1679 issued by the President, granting the First-Class Labor Order to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in recognition of its outstanding and extraordinary achievements in advising and implementing the foreign affairs activities of the Party and State. These contributions were instrumental in building socialism and safeguarding the nation from 2023 to 2025.

To honor her exceptional contributions, the Party and State conferred the title of Labor Hero on former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh.

According to Presidential Decision No. 1673, Nguyen Thi Binh (birth name Nguyen Thi Chau Sa), former member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former Vice President, and former Vice President of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam, was recognized for her significant achievements in foreign affairs and her dedication to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.

Nguyen Thi Binh is widely known for her role as head of the delegation of the National Front for the Liberation of South Vietnam and the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam. She was a representative at the Four-Party Peace Conference on Vietnam in Paris from 1968 to 1973. She was among the signatories of the 1973 Paris Peace Accords and the only woman to sign the agreement.

Following the reunification of Vietnam, she held multiple high-level positions, including Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Education and Training, and Vice President from 1992 to 2002.

Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Binh emphasized that the Paris Peace Accords to end the war in Vietnam were a landmark event in the 80-year history of Vietnam's diplomatic service. The signing of the agreement was one of the nation’s great victories, paving the way for the full liberation of the South and reunification of the country.

She expressed her joy that Vietnam today enjoys peace, independence, and unity, guided by the Party’s wise leadership and policies of deep international integration, and is steadily progressing toward the goal of becoming a prosperous and powerful developed nation.
