On her personal social media, Bich Thuy posted a photo of herself alongside players from Okayama Seagulls, one of Japan's renowned volleyball clubs. The team is known for its strong domestic lineup and exceptional athletes.
For weeks, the Vietnamese national team’s top middle blocker had kept her international move under wraps. The surprise only came when she shared the photo from Japan, catching many fans and observers off guard.
Currently, Bich Thuy’s home club, Hoa Chat Duc Giang, has not released an official statement regarding her transfer. However, the club’s management has long been supportive of players pursuing opportunities abroad.
Prior to her trip to Japan, Bich Thuy had a highly successful half-season in South Korea’s national league. After that stint, she returned to Vietnam to compete with Hoa Chat Duc Giang and represent the national team.
Standing at 1.84 meters with exceptional blocking skills, the 2000-born athlete has attracted attention from various foreign clubs. Choosing Japan as her next destination is a well-aligned decision, offering her the chance to grow further in one of Asia’s most competitive volleyball environments.
If all goes as expected, Bich Thuy will become the next Vietnamese volleyball player, after Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, to play in Japan's national league this season. This move not only benefits individual athletes but also elevates the overall level of Vietnam’s women’s volleyball team.
Japan’s national volleyball league is scheduled to kick off in October. However, if she joins Okayama, Bich Thuy might not be released to return home in time to participate in the 33rd SEA Games in December.
