The Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) has unveiled its 2026–2027 pre-sale concert series, promising audiences a compelling lineup of classical music’s most iconic works.

The season comprises ten concerts held at the Grand Concert Hall of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, starting in March 2026 and running through January 2027. These concerts form part of the VNSO's long-running pre-sale series, which began in 2005 and has reached its 180th performance.

From its inception, the series has brought together leading conductors and soloists from Vietnam and abroad, performing hallmark pieces from the global symphonic and chamber repertoire. This year’s programming continues that tradition with a particular focus on the works of Haydn (featured in four concerts) and Tchaikovsky (three concerts), alongside pieces by Dvořák, Mahler, Wagner, Rachmaninov, Mozart, Ravel and others  -  offering audiences a diverse and historically rich musical experience.

The 2026 season opens at 8:00 PM on March 1, 2026, at the Grand Concert Hall, with conductor Honna Tetsuji leading the VNSO. Pianist Henri Sigfridsson will take the stage as soloist, performing two works: Les Préludes by Franz Liszt and Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18.

The first concert in the official season lineup  -  program No.180  -  follows on March 28. Conducted by Sado Yutaka and featuring cellist Phan Do Phuc, the program inaugurates the Haydn I and Tchaikovsky I cycles.

Throughout 2026, the concert series will present a wide array of highlights eagerly anticipated by classical music enthusiasts: Rachmaninov’s Piano Concertos No. 2 and No. 3, Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G Major, Tchaikovsky’s Symphonies No. 4, 5 and 6, Dvořák’s Symphonies No. 8 and No. 9 "From the New World", and Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde (The Song of the Earth), among others.

The VNSO welcomes back several conductors well-known to Vietnamese audiences, including Honna Tetsuji, Sado Yutaka, Zahia Ziouani, Mikhail Kirchhoff, Kim Xuan Hieu, Nguyen Phu Son, and Nguyen Khac Thanh.

A host of celebrated soloists and vocalists will also perform throughout the season, representing multiple generations and styles. These include Henri Sigfridsson, Phan Do Phuc, Slava Kiselev, Tobi Tan Kai Rong, Pham Le Phuong, Nguyen Dang Quang, Kudo Shigenori, Nguyen Truong Linh, Nguyen Khac Hoa, and Nguyen Thien Minh.

With this year’s edition, the VNSO continues to pursue its long-term artistic vision: fostering a sustained appreciation for classical music among the public and creating space for dialogue between the enduring legacies of symphonic music and Vietnam’s contemporary musical life.
