VietNamNet Bridge – For a two-day weekend, those working and living in HCMC can make a relaxing trip to the southern coast city of Vung Tau, a one-and-a-half-hour drive from downtown HCMC.

Tourists are seen at Suoi Da-Suoi Tien Tourist Area in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

On the way to Vung Tau, tourists can stop by Suoi Da-Suoi Tien (rock stream – fairy stream) Tourist Area in Tan Hai Commune, Tan Thanh District of Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province.

The two streams flow from Dinh Mountain through rocks and forests, and are around 600 meters apart. Those visiting the area in the dry season cannot see cool stream water flowing but will have a chance to admire large rocks of different shapes.

In the rainy season, it is a perfect place for nature lovers as they can indulge in the cool and refreshing atmosphere in the forest and listen to the sound of stream water flowing through trees and rocks.

After stopping by this area, tourists can go to Son Thuy Ngu Quan in Long Son District of the province for lunch before continuing the trip to Vung Tau. The restaurant is difficult to find but worth coming for its signature grilled chicken with sticky rice and grilled catfish.

In Vung Tau, tourists can make a difference by buying fresh seafood at markets and cook it as many hotels in Vung Tau allow guests to cook in their kitchens.

Having a swim and strolling along a beach at night to enjoy cool breezes should definitely be in the to-do list.

Those spending two days at weekend in the city should explore local food. For breakfast, tourists are recommended to taste banh khot, a small fried rice pancake served with fresh mustard leaves, herbs and sweetened fish sauce. There are many banh khot eateries apart from the renowned Goc Vu Sua (Star apple root).

Vung Tau banh khot is indeed a delicious dish. The pancake is crispy on the outside but soft in the inside, and the toppings include shrimp, shrimp powder and fried onion.
