VietNamNet Bridge – K’Long is a recommended place for tourists to stop for about an hour or more to buy hand-made tho cam (brocade) products and explore the culture of ethnic minority people K’Ho in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

The village around 15 kilometers south of Dalat City is also known as Ga (chicken) Village because of the big statue of a roaster standing in the center of the village. The more-than-three-meter-high roaster craning its neck to crow has been put up on a stone platform of 1.5 meters since the late 1970s as a landmark of the village. This is a common place where local villagers often gather for games and or rest after a hard working day.

To reach the small village nestled amidst hills in Hiep An Commune of Duc Trong District, visitors will travel on a red basaltic soil path through small vegetable and gladiolus gardens. They can see herds of milk cows grazing on the way to this scenic village.

Visitors can buy brocade scarves, bags, tablecloths, blankets and wallets in different colors at reasonable prices as well as observe locals to weave these handicraft items at K’Long Village. A local artisan says it take days to weave a scarf and other items.

K’Long Village is a popular stop for tourists to buy colorful brocade souvenirs when they are on the way to Dalat City.

As K’Long Village is just hundreds of meters from National Highway 20, it is easily accessible by bike or trekking. The local artisan says the village has welcomed a number of foreigners coming by bike.
