VietNamNet Bridge – On the morning of August 1, tens of people stopped their vehicles on the road to pick up VND200,000-500,000 ($10-25) banknotes on a road of Xuan An ward, in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province.

The road was stuck for nearly half an hour because of the incident.

A witness said that hundreds of banknotes escaped from a suitcase, which was broken by an excavator of a canal building unit.

However, some others said that these banknotes came from a black haversack of a young man, who brought the sack into a coffee shop to wash off sand and soil from banknotes then left the sack on the road.

Police blocked the site and collected VND1.5 million ($75).

A local gave up a VND200 banknote, which is suspected to be false money, to police.

Phan Thiet police have called for people to hand in the banknotes that they picked up on the road for investigation
