Each tree has thousands of fruits, laden from root to tip. Many people plant them as ornamental trees to wish for wealth.
Ms. Tran Thi Hoa, 66, a resident in Ha Linh commune in Huong Khe district, is the owner of an ancient langsat tree, which is rare and unique. Many people offered to pay her thousands of USD to buy the tree, but Hoa refused them all. Hoa said she wanted to preserve the tree for her descendants.
Mr. Nguyen Van Ky, another resident in Ha Linh commune, Huong Khe district, told VietNamNet that his family planted langsat trees in 1978. He has sold several trees for thousands of USD. At present, the family has nearly 20 langsat trees.
